Hi loves! I have some free hand nail art for you today!!! I know, I know, It's been entirely too long since I posted a blog post centered around my nail art rather then swatches but man did I miss it and very much enjoyed doing it!
I am on a swatching break for this month and figured now would be the best time for me to try to get back to my nail roots(considering I started this blog 8 years ago this month with nail art, not swatches lol) and I'm hoping to post at least 3 Christmas free hand manis for you this month and maybe even continuing to do it after the New Year! What do you guys think?
Anywho, First one I decided to do was the one and only The...The...The Grinch! and Max of course haha. Read on for more info!
I was feeling nostalgic and wanted to do a Christmas mani inspired by one of my all time favorite Christmas stories as a kid and the first one to come to mind was the 1966 television special starring Boris Karlo, Based on the 1957 book "How the Grinch Stole Christmas!" by Dr. Seuss.
At 34 years old I still watch this version of the movie every year(sometimes more than once lol) as well as the Jim Carrey one and the new animated one which is super cute but none of them pull at the nostalgic heart strings like the 1966 version does. Any day of the year if someone mentions the Grinch I can hear the infamous voice of Boris Karlo narrating the movie and it makes me think of all my childhood Christmas memories of sitting in the living room, drinking hot cocoa with my parents and siblings watching this and the other classic Christmas stories.
Here are some macro shots. Gah I love matte top coat! I feel like it somehow brings the painted characters to life. I used a stamping plate for the word "Grinch" on my thumb. The plate is by Hit the Bottle and called "Bah Humbug - 02" which I purchased from last months Polish Pickup, but they do also have it on their website here.
I also wanted to show some quick pictorials of my free hand nail process and I took it step further and even recorded myself doing it! You can find the video below!
Well that's it loves! I hope you guys enjoyed seeing some nail art again! I'm hoping to do something like this a few times a month and make a series out of it, called it Weekly Nail Art or something lol anyone have any ideas what I should call it?
Comment below with your thoughts on this weeks nail art as well as any other nail art ideas you would like to see!! XO
